Well, it's the beginning of 2012 and another year of resolutions. It always seems I start off really good and then just kind of tail off and forget about it all, but not on purpose. Just stink this year I'll start off small and let my main focus be to keep it going. This has been one of the first years where I haven't made a list. Guess maybe b/c it hasn't worked that well. Main things for this month is no sodas and sweet tea only on Sundays & finances for our family. Also start running again and getting started on the P90X. I need to order it so I can get everything and want to try and do it well. It's just so hard to find the time, b/c it'll either be very early in the morning or late at night when I would get to do it. We'll see!
Also want to get in shape good b/c I want to go run in the Warrior Dash. You can check out the video on www.warriordash.com. It's 3.4 miles with 12 obstacles. It's coming up in April so I need to start getting ready now! Enough for now.

So drained...
Man, I just can't seem to get over this feeling of feeling so emotionally drained. Almost 2 weeks ago I flew out to San Antonio to preach a funeral for one of the guys that use to be in our youth group when we youth pastored in Seguin. This is the first time we've ever had someone pass away that was a part of our ministry anywhere. It was so good to see everyone I was able to see from Texas... I sure miss do miss a lot of our friends from there.
The funeral went as good as a funeral could possibly go, but when I flew out the next morning to come back home I sat down at the airport after getting to my gate and just lost it and cried like a baby. It's like everything just him me like a ton of bricks all at one time. I'm guessing I was just so busy for that 19 hours in Texas, that I never had time to take it all in. Adam, was a great and very unique guy. I think out of all the guys in our youth group in Texas that I spent the most time with him one on one.
Just praying now for his family and also for myself. I can't ever remember feeling this emotionally drained. I know God will fill me back up... just the waiting process now. A big thank you to our Texas family that was there to help me out while I was there! We miss you Adam!

Softball, Running & Randomness
Well, I haven't been updating the blog like I wanted but I'm trying (well a little bit). I can't remember where I left off on my last blog, but I think since then I ran my first 5K at the Bay BridgeFest in Bay St. Louis, MS in June and it went really good. I finished in 30:58 which was really good b/c I had been averaging around 33 minutes! I've slacked off running a good bit since then, but starting to pick back up again.
Man, I've been lonely this past week. Staci and the kids are in NC visiting all of her family. The house is so quiet!!! Kind of creepy! They left to go up there while I was going to kids & youth camp. I didn't have to end up going to kid's camp so I've been home by myself for a week.

I've also started playing softball again! Our church has a team and we're playing in the Harrison County League. A lot of fun, but I don't care for the 30 minute drive every time! It's been about 4 years or so since I've last played. It's a lot of fun even though we've been getting smoked every game, except tonights game. We only lost by 1 run!!! It was a lot of fun though.
Still trying to get my weight down some. I guess everyone does or almost everybody. I was around 219 then I got down to 211 and then I slacked off running and now at 215. I am eating a lot better and healthier so that's good. Just gotta exercise more, but it's easier to be lazy!!! Ok, enough of boring you all... well the one or two that might read this! I need to take a shower!

run & walk, run & walk, run & walk, run & walk....
This morning I got up and ran again, but tried a different pace and I really like it. You run for a minute and walk for a minute and did that for 25 minutes. I ended up going a little over 2 miles in about the same time I usually jogged it. Hopefully this will help me to pick up my jogging pace a little and this makes where it's not quite as boring. I've got to remember to take my ipod with me! It was a nice change of pace. I may do this for a week then jog for a week and mix it up till I'm ready for the 5k. I've got to remember to go to the bathroom before I go jogging to, b/c I was over 1/2 a mile away from home and I needed to go to the bathroom! I was able to hold it in case you were wondering. Ok, now back to work. I'm sure you wanted all those details!

Woohoo!!!
More running stuff and 1st & 2nd Corinthians
Finally, got to run 3 times this week like I've been wanting to. Mon, Wed & Fri! This morning was a lot easier than the last few mornings. Like a dork I've been waking up and going running without eating or drinking anything for about the last 8 or so hours. So through the run I'm dying of thirst and don't hardly have any energy! I've got to remember to take my ipod with me to, so I'm not so bored just talking to myself! Maybe it'll make the time go by quicker. This week I've started jogging 2 miles (my farthest distance yet) and it takes me about 22 minutes. I think this next week I might do the running exercise where you run for a minute then walk for a minute and you do that for about 20 to 40 minutes, for a change of pace. I need to start jogging a little faster if I want to meet my 30 minute goal for a 5k. Now I need to shower b/c I'm starting to stink! Then I've got to pack for my trip to Jackson, MS tonight for the District School of Ministry. Looking forward to it to see what they'll be teaching on the book. It's a commentary on 1 & 2 Corinthians by Stanley Horton. It's actually a really neat book. The author has the Bible printed in it so you don't have to keep going back and forth between two books. He'll have a verse or two on the page and breaks down every verse and the meaning behind it. It's really good!

Another run...

Finished another late night run on the Bay Bridge last night. If you look on the bottom picture I start on the far side then turn around at the top of the bridge. I went a mile & 3/4ths in 15:27. I found out that I'm pretty good at staying at a steady pace. On the bridge they have markers for every tenth of a mile so I timed myself every tenth of a mile with my phone and every time I was between 1:00 and 1:04. Except for one time when I was 1:07 which was probably at the top of the hill. It was tough b/c not only was it the steepest part but the wind was blowing about 10 to 15mph right in my face! It barely felt like I was moving! The run downhill and the wind at my back was a little easier!
I better get back to work now!
